AVATARS IN ACTION

Avatars in Action is where bold ideas meet real-world magic. Take a look at the projects, client collaborations, and behind-the-scenes moments that show how we bring avatars and digital humans to life — creating experiences that are imaginative, immersive, and made to be remembered.

Veeam On Tour 2026

A digital safari with a very human surprise. Working with Fiz Marketing, we opened Veeam On Tour South Africa 2026 with an avatar guide exploring the risks of the agentic AI era. By combining Unreal Engine, motion capture and a digital double, we brought the story to life—then brought the guide on stage as a real performer. Cue spontaneous applause.

USBI Showcase 2026

A live avatar DJ performed alongside flautist Carina Bruwer, while the Holobox brought a remote international speaker into the room and showcased an interactive avatar experience. Together, these moments showed how digital performance, holographic presence, and audience interaction can coexist in the same live event, each offering a different way to connect people with content.

Dell Forum 2025

A young drummer leaves his rural community and enters a spiritual realm, where a guide teaches him to understand the power of rhythm. Created with the Ndlovu Youth Choir, the story introduced a fictional new band member whose journey mirrored the choir’s roots, then brought him back to the real world for a celebratory on-stage finale.

BTS: Staff performing as avatars

Two Novartis staff members became live virtual MCs through custom avatars inspired by the event’s origami theme. Using real-time motion capture, they performed on screen alongside the physical MC, turning employees into active participants and showing how avatars can give people inside an organisation a completely new way to appear on stage.

Santam

Two very different ideas explored the relationship between digital characters, real people and brand storytelling. One experience transformed an avatar into the real presenter during his presentation, while the other became a narrative-driven music video built around the Yellow Song, using animation and storytelling to connect the song more directly to Santam and its brand message.

Festival of Eventing

One fictional digital character connected the entire event journey. She first appeared in pre-event video content, then stepped into the live programme as a virtual MC, before continuing into the post-event experience through photo opportunities. The result showed how a single avatar can become a recurring character across multiple touchpoints rather than simply appearing once on screen.

Absa SLG

Broadcasting from the Absaverse, a virtual MC appeared to beam her contribution from outer space directly into the live event. Giving the character her own world and backstory made her participation feel like part of the narrative rather than simply a digital presenter on screen, allowing the virtual and physical elements of the event to connect more naturally.

USBI Showcase 2025

Avatars don’t need to look human. To show the medium’s creative freedom, we drew inspiration from the world of Avatar and created a fantastical character that could serve as both a live MC and a singing performer. The experience was designed to show just how far a fictional character can be integrated into a real-time stage performance.

Dell Forum 2024

Digital twins of the three Mi Casa band members became the centre of an opening sequence exploring the relationship between human creativity and artificial intelligence. Rather than presenting AI as a replacement for people, the story focused on what becomes possible when human imagination and technology work together, using the band’s virtual counterparts to bring that idea to life on stage.
