Case Study: How Brand Avatar Made Nia the Star of the Festival of Eventing
THE CHALLENGE
The Festival of Eventing, held at the Century City Conference Centre on 8–9 August 2025, is Africa’s premier platform for reimagining event management. With such a landmark gathering, the challenge was clear: how could we create an experience that engaged attendees across every touchpoint—before, during, and after the event—using multiple formats and channels to make each interaction meaningful and memorable?
THE SOLUTION
At the Festival of Eventing, Brand Avatar demonstrated how a single core digital asset—a metahuman or avatar—paired with its environment could expand into a transmedia system, engaging attendees across the full event lifecycle.
Enter Nia, our bold, brilliant African “eventurer.” She became the connective thread across all three acts of the festival:
Act One – Before the Event
Nia sparked anticipation with a vibrant “Know Before You Go” video—perfect for social sharing and delegate preparation. She also came to life as Ask Nia, a voice-powered chatbot using the performer’s voice (with full permission, of course), ready to answer attendee questions.
Act Two – During the Event
On stage, Nia co-hosted, while at the venue, attendees could pose for selfies with her life-sized cut-out and scan a QR code to explore more event information and programme highlights.
Act Three – After the Event
Nia lived on through post-event media via highlight reels and photos that kept the conversation—and engagement—alive long after the festival ended.
Through recorded media, live performance, AI integration, and physical presence, Nia connected with audiences across every touchpoint. This integrated workflow illustrates the full transmedia model: one asset, multiple outputs, and a cohesive, multi-channel narrative that elevates the attendee experience.
THE IMPACT
By bringing Nia to life across every touchpoint, the Festival of Eventing transformed from a two-day gathering into a fully immersive, three-act experience. The result? Attendees linked with Nia in multiple ways—chatting with a voicebot, snapping selfies with her standee, or enjoying her on-stage presence—blurring the line between digital and physical. It was a connected, memorable experience that showcased how avatars, AI, and physical activations can turn events into living stories.
